We Can Tour That jam packs this splendid 2-hour dessert walking tour with 8 of the most delicious sweet shops in the Lower East Side.
Starting at New York City’s most historic public market, with its roots dating back to 1818, you wind through the artisanal and family-owned shops, while enjoying your first tasty treat.
From there, Cherie whisks you away to your next stop for what is quite possibly the best donut you’ll ever eat.
Then, stroll down the historic streets of the Lower East Side, where tenement buildings and gritty alleys meld with trendy upscale shops, eclectic restaurants, music venues, and museums.
Enjoy some of the best NYC pastry, chocolate, and sweet shops, and learn about the history of sugar and dessert industry – including stories about Domino Sugar, Nabisco, and the West Side chocolates.
Finally, Cherie takes you to New York City’s Oldest Candy Store for last minute shopping. It’s the one we all wished we had when we were kids! Be dazzled by the aisles brimming from floor to ceiling and dive into bins overflowing with candies and comic books.

WHAT IS THE COST?
We Can Tour That “Lower Sweet Side” tour is $65 per person and all tastings are included in the ticket price. Refundable tickets are $65. Please note, they place their orders with our shops in the 48 hours prior to each tour, and their tour guides commit their time for each tour booked. For that reason, We Can Tour That is unable to offer refunds to those who cancel within 48 hours. Thank you for your understanding.
WHEN IS THIS TOUR AVAILABLE?
The public tour runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 3pm-5pm. Please CHECK THE CALENDAR for up-to-date information. Private Tours are available for small groups up to 6 people at other dates and times year-round. Please CONTACT We Can Tour That for more information.
HOW MUCH FOOD WILL WE BE EATING?
The tour includes goodies (ie. baked goods, chocolate, and candy) from 8 different mom and pop shops. With a bonus 9th stop – in your childhood dream candy store – to shop and purchase to your hearts content. Most guests will feel full by the end of the tour. Portion sizes vary at each location. Some tastings will be individual, and some samples are shared and split among the group. We Can Tour That recommends eating a light lunch or snack before going on the tour.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TOUR?
The tour includes 8 delicious tastings, some destinations you’ll get to choose your flavor, some are pre-selected based on what that particular shop does best or is known for. Tastings are subject to change as mom and pop shops sometimes close unexpectedly. There will be time to shop, if you are interested in making additional purchases.
HOW MUCH WALKING IS REQUIRED?
You walk about 1 mile over the course of the 2 hours. The group moves at a casual and leisurely pace and offers opportunities to sit.
WHERE DOES THE TOUR START?
This tour starts in The Lower East Side at Essex Market: 88 Essex St (between Delancy St and Broome St.). Located near the Delancey/Essex subway station (J/M/Z lines). Please review your confirmation email after purchasing tickets for more details. IMPORTANT: Please arrive 15 minutes early and give yourself extra time for allow for weekend subway traffic. Tickets must be purchased 48 hours before the tour. No walk-ups.
WHERE DOES THE TOUR END?
This tour ends at 108 Rivington St (between Ludlow St & Essex St) at Economy Candy near the Delancey St · Essex St subway station (1 2 lines). Your guide will be able to assist in directing you to your next destination.
